I just don’t know what I am doing anymore. So I get up just to keep pace with the moving floor. At least there’s something to move towards for no real reason, except of course, that my legs are shaking, aching for something to do. But I rearranged all the furniture in my room At least three or four or five times now I just can’t get it right somehow. And the walls are moving in. Oh, the terrible winter is falling down onto the driveway And I can’t get out I’ve got two extra hands and they follow me through my waking hours and in my dreams I’m imagining that I’d float away from my body and I wouldn’t know how to get back inside. And the walls are moving in. The walls move in. I can’t breathe in this nothing in the air all around me. Won’t somebody come and find me in here? There’s nobody here but me.

Rat Bastards 03:57
That silver is starting to wear off in your mouth. So you spit out your spoon and stick your hand out. What a loss, what a burden, the incredible weight Of a world that needs saving in a special new way. Zealous and angry, usefully mad. That’s all you need to get back on the path. Can you lie? Can you steal? Can you keep a straight face? Oh, then we have something for you. Living is easy when you get all you want And if you just can believe it you might make something of yourself. So you pray on your knees for incredible grace To wash all it’s favors once more over your face. Ban the useless, the dumb, all the wasters of space But then you might have made an exception or two for yourself. Oh, wait a minute here. You trade in tall tales, fibs, and lies, sob stories, and hate So you can put on that crown and reign, born to be king over slave. Well, well, what matters it? Believe that too. Living is easy, so don’t cash in your chips when the trees just grow money Cuz you asked for streets of gold. Living is easy as long as you know you can’t steal a reflection that you already own. Liars and pimps and thugs Tramps and thieves who steal your drugs. Hey, kid, it’s all the same. You might find out in the rain, out where your tears belong, Where they sell souls for a song, It’s not so bad to be just another curse on the breeze.

I broke in to a haunted house and I slept on the floor all night. And there were no ghosts. Nothing left behind. Inside of a dead man’s book, his life in plain type. The bare margins, caressed by scarce ink. No graphite. Oh, how the minutes surrender the years. You might look through your couches and your dressers and your chairs for a few more. I walked into a dead man’s room and I went through his desk. And I found a few paper planes. And a photo of the sky. Tomorrow everything will be perfect and right. But I get sick the more that I stay in this place. All of the windows, they all look the same. So I’m gone. I’m gone. So long.

I’ve got to get up. The day is wasting away. The sun is swinging over the shingles and tar. One foot on the floor. Well, that’s a good start, I guess. Drag me to the car. I left my keys by the door. You can throw those textbooks on the fire. Are you any less inspired? You’ll throw away that poetry. Those hopeless liars set you free now. You know, the girls with no hope look so good. Only shadows when she stood there. Her eyeshadow runs down her face with her tears. I guess she got a good look at her boyfriend’s shitty beard. Feeling like a fool. I guess I’ll have to let it slide. Give me a better reason, man. I know we’ll get it right! Hold up, I can’t stop. We gotta keep moving up. I’m doing it myself. We just keep running out of luck. I’ve got to get up. The day is wasting away. The sun is swinging over my shingles and tar. One foot on the floor. Well, that’s a good start, I guess. Drag me to the car. I dropped my keys on the floor. I’ll wait for something better. Always for something better. I’ll waste something better.

Trail has gone thin below. This way still is reaching out. Reaching out. Like the trees bend their branches over me. (Burn the maps) All this time I’ve been reaching out for a hand or a rope or something to hold onto in the dark. But I know when the warm hand’s leading me I’ll look and I’ll see the Xs on the trees. I have been this way before. True air is cold and dry. I was born an animal. And wolves are only angry dogs who roam in packs. Burn the maps. Where was I when the call rang out? Trapped in a city, down and low. Wading into an angry fog. The streets all look the same. Their names I don’t recall, I don’t recall. I was sure one time I knew them all. But now the trail has gone thin below and if I don’t come back… Burn the maps. Over and over on my way back down the road they told me not to stop and turn around. I am not listening this time.

My Wonder 04:50
Up on the risers I saw you unfold. Like a paper flower too perfect to hold. And, oh, when you sway, you bend and you swerve You move into me but I do not deserve. But, oh, when I called for you. For some curious reason you called for me too. We’ll wander together and never apart. You’re there like my shadow and the beat of my heart. And when I, my skin and my bones Are breaking and shaking, you drag me back home. To lay down on your lovely bed. I wait on your pillow. My heaviest head. Was I already dreaming? Your eyes full of stars. Oh, you…you are my wonder. I dreamt of two leaves that float down a stream. Through whirlpools and current on their way to the sea. When I wake in the morning, you’re wrapped in my arms. You smile and you roll over and I fear no harms. Oh, when I called for you For some curious reason you called for me too. Hey, let’s fly away somewhere shiny and new. Oh, you…you are my wonder.
